Lights Out

Lights Out

Some thoughts I had midread:
1.Yeah, I must be really messed up because I’m over here like, “but it’s just ONE camera, can’t we leave it?”. Definitely would get murdered in a horror movie.
2.I… no, there’s something wrong with me. I’d forgive him. So fast.

Anyway, I love the easy chemistry between Aly and Josh and the way they banter so comfortably. It’s obvious they’re two peas in their own weird little pod and I think it’s awesome.

Let’s collectively normalize being rude as fuck to pushy men. “Not to seem rude” actually, perceive me as rude. I beg you. Be so turned off by my rudeness that you get far away from me and never come back. There’s never a good reason to coddle a man you’ve never met before (unless the reason is fear of an imminent threat. It’s from a really privileged standpoint that I say that because I am not ACTIVELY in a situation like that and when presented with those situations, I have coddled the strange man and avoided coming off as rude. However, I will never do that again. I haven’t in years and refuse to pass that onto my daughter. Knives, though? Stabby heirlooms. We defend ourselves now.)

My dad’s not a serial killer or anything but yeah, I don’t think I’d feel bad about accidentally murdering a rapist who broke into my girlfriend’s house with the intention of raping and murdering her. Then again, I also struggle with empathy, so, I don’t know. Regardless, the only good rapist is a dead one.

All in all, it wasn’t a literary masterpiece but I genuinely had a good time reading it. There was quite a bit of suspension of disbelief because of a series of bad decisions by the main characters, but yeah, fun. I giggled, I laughed, I screeched, I swooned. It was a good time and I would recommend the book.
