I… what…
So, we go from a manipulative king who uses false emotion to get what he wants to a manipulative king who uses sex to get what he wants? Don’t get me wrong, I’m so in it for our boy Slade, but my brother in Christ, that’s a BAD look.
Rissa? I’m trying to suspend my disbelief because it’s a world with magic and all that, so like, anything is possible, I suppose. However, Rissa is a person, Hojat is a person. Idk, I’ll see in the next book.
While I really enjoy Rissa and Osrik’s POVs, totally cool with the side story there, I still think it would have been better as a novella. They didn’t need to be included in the main novel.
On that point, this book was too long. I love a girthy book, but I like for the main story to be the reason it’s got girth. There were so many unnecessary POVS between Queen Kaila, Queen Malina, Osrik, Rissa, and Slade. While Slade’s is fine because he’s the MMC, he didn’t need more POV chapters than the actual main character of the series. It’ll make more sense in the next book with them being separated the way they are, but for this one? The literal first 13 (maybe 14) chapters weren’t even from our main characters perspective?? That’s wild. Queen Malina’s POVs could have easily been a tandem novel or novella for context on how the fae got their bridge, which would have made Glow a much more manageable size. Queen Kaila’s POVs were completely irrelevant in every regard. Unnecessary and not needed.
Anyway, it was a decent enough book with a slightly surprising twist at the end. I’m curious about the next book, but with all the POV bloat in this book, I’m less excited about going into the next one.
