Enigma

Enigma

I feel like the plot dragged really bad until about 3/4 of the way through and then it resolved so quickly out of nowhere.

Overall, I wasn’t terribly engaged with it and was really only reading for Caz. Which I suppose is fine since this was obviously more romance than anything else.

However, romance with a secondary plot like this can still be done in a more engaging way. Truly, Madly, Deeply for example or Worth Every Penny. While not 1:1 comparisons, it’s worth noting that those books are romance books with a secondary plot.

Gothikana was overall more interesting and compelling, but this one at least didn’t leave gaping questions that only serve to frustrate and confuse.

I couldn’t really get behind Salem as a main character. Sure, she was described as being externally cold and aloof, but… that doesn’t mean she has to read so flatly. I just didn’t enjoy her perspective and felt bored by her.
